What are sales and marketing content campaigns?

Sales and marketing campaigns are a coordinated series of touchpoints designed to pull potential customers into the buying cycle.

Marketing campaigns focus on creating and distributing information like blogs, ebooks, webinars, case studies, tools, web pages, etc. The more information you produce, the more chances you have to engage prospects at varying stages of the buying cycle.

Sales campaigns focus on integrating marketing content with one-to-one sales communications. Having marketing content that is aligned with the sales process gives salespeople more ways to interact and engage their prospects.

These integrated campaign strategies help salespeople provide value with each interaction vs. "calling to touch base."

It's not just about quantity though. The information needs to be high value, visually appealing, and easy to find.

What kind of results can I expect?

Companies that engage in consistent content marketing see the following types of results:

  • Increase # of website visitors
  • Increase web visitor-to-lead conversion
  • Increase # of social followers
  • Shorter sales cycles
  • Higher customer retention
  • Increased sales
  • Higher profits
  • More referrals
What will you need from me?

In order to help our clients develop and execute the most effective content strategy, we need:

  • Access to executive leadership. We need to understand the company's goals and objectives to ensure our marketing efforts are aligned.
  • Point person. We need a point person with decision making power within your company. We will meet regularly to review progress, discuss upcoming agenda's, develop strategies and plans, and keep the project moving forward.
  • Access to the sales team. They are on the front lines and know what kinds of questions or information prospects need at different stages of the sales cycle. We may sit in on sales calls or interview sales people to get their insights on what is going on in the industry and what information their prospects are looking for.
  • Access to industry experts within the company. We coordinate the content development process with internal resources so we can create uniquely written content based on your experiences and personality. We shoulder the brunt of the content writing process, but it is a collaborative effort.
  • Access to data: In order to determine if our marketing efforts are effective, we need to analyze the results. We need access to marketing and sales data in order to determine if our marketing efforts and driving qualified sales leads that are turning into customers.
How do we get started?

The typical process for getting started with a new client usually looks something like this:

  • Intro meeting: Determine if there is a potential fit between our two companies.
  • Free consultation: A high level assessment of the current situation, what the issues are, and an example of how we can potentially work together.
  • Marketing plan: Detailed analysis and benchmarking of the current state, evaluating strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats, clearly defining goals and objectives, and outline key tactics.
  • 3 month trial: We develop a 90 day trial content marketing plan. This gives the client a chance to see how the process works and what kind of results they can obtain before making a long-term commitment.
  • Monthly retainer: After a successful 90 days, we continue analyzing, developing and executing the marketing plan.
What kind of technology do I need?

Marketing requires a variety of technological capabilities: websites, CRM, blogging, email marketing, social media, etc. You can either hodge-podge these technologies together, or consider purchasing an all-in-one marketing system for cohesiveness.

There's a big difference between a stand alone website and technology to help you drive marketing results.

Every marketer has the "tools" they know and like to use. The most important thing is to pick the person you trust to work with the most first. People first, then process. Once you have your person, let them use the tools they use most effectively. If you try to force a person or team you like to use tools they are unfamiliar with, you'll have a reduced ROI.
